Autumn has landed and time for cosy woolly hats, colourful scarves and setting off on days away with a hot flask of coffee or soup. In the UK we’re spoilt with our seasons, each bringing their own beauty, we are equally spoilt with the countless stunning tourist destinations, many of which are perfect all year round.

Cornwall

If you’re looking to go on holiday to somewhere with mystical atmosphere and lots of history, then Cornwall is the place for you. The whole of Cornwall’s coastline tells a conflicting story, and its landscape includes misty clifftops, majestic rocks in the sea, interesting coves, peaceful villages, and breath-taking beaches.

 

No matter the weather, Cornwall has many delights to be discovered, from family run pubs to tasty restaurants, all ideal for families and couples alike. If you’re walking the coastal path make sure you are prepared and plan your route. Kynance Cove on the Lizard is stunning and well worth a visit. Go crabbing in beautiful Padstow Harbour, where there are many fine pubs and food places. If you’re looking to rediscover the natural world as you’ve never experience it, visit the Eden Project. There’s just too much to mention, but hope this gives you at taste.

 

Bath

An elegant city fully of traditional heritage, contemporary culture, green spaces and many surprises. Bath was built for pleasure and relaxation and has been a wellbeing destination since Roman times.

 

Bath’s stunningly beautiful Georgian architecture and outstretching hills provide everything you need for a well-deserved break away. Autumn is a gorgeous time to spend time in the city. Victoria Park in the centre comes alive with trees all shades, a perfect place to take a leisurely stroll. Cultural events during this time, including film festivals and firework displays.

 

In Autumn, Georgian Bath comes alive with a multitude of Jane Austen events and experiences across the city. From the Regency Costume Promenade to literary talks and immersive experiences, fans of Jane Austen fans have many much to keep them occupied to celebrate the famous author's life in Bath. Walk in Jane Austen steps on your visit to Bath and you will discover the same elegant and vibrant city which provided inspiration for two of her published novels, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion.

 

Hot air balloon rides offer a stunning view, witnessing the city’s architecture from the skies, and

appreciating the countryside. The waters are still a huge attraction, from the ancient Roman Baths with its 2,000 years of history, to the totally modern Thermae Bath Spa offering rich waters and more stunning views of the city, a perfect treat.

 

Devon

Devon provides the perfect mixture of coast and stunning land, the county’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Autumn doesn’t stop you from visiting the picturesque North Sands Beach, with calm, shallow water perfect for paddling.

 

Clovelly in North Devon is a picturesque ancient fishing village, once owned by the Queen of England. The village offers donkeys, cobbled streets, flower-strewn cottages and winding lanes.

 

Step back in time at Powderham Castle in Exeter and Hartland Abbey in Bideford are two amazing historic places that offer gardens and a full day to explore and absorb the history and nature. If you’re looking for fun on a steam train then South Devon Railway is for you.

 

Salisbury, Wiltshire

Sailsbury, although being a small city, provides so much culture and history. There’s Salisbury Cathedral, which boasts the tallest church spire in the UK and the second tallest in Europe, and the gorgeous surrounding grounds. Inside the cathedral you’ll find the best-preserved copy of the Magna Carta, which has sat in the cathedral since 1215.

 

Stonehenge is only a 15-minute drive away from the city, which needs little in the way of  introduction. The prehistoric monument is something to be seen person. Salisbury has some brilliant opportunities for walking, too, and in Autumn, these walks allow you to view the full spectrum of autumn’s colourful glows.

 

Bristol

Cardiff

Staying in the Welsh capital, Cardiff, offers a vibrant city break with so much history and passion. At the heart of Cardiff lies the castle, which dates to Roman times.

 

The city is a vibrant destination, with every possible shopping and entertainment experience

on offer. There are world class sporting venues for soccer and rugby, lots of theatres to visit and

galleries to explore. Families and folk seeking quiet space amidst the daily hustle and bustle should head for Bute Park, a large parkland area hidden within the city. Cardiff has an arboretum, with lots of stunning flowers, plants and trees to enjoy, and amazing facilities for the whole family.
